How to Use Your BMW’s Electric Glass Roof
The optional electric glass roof of your BMW allows for natural light and fresh air to get inside the vehicle. When sitting in the vehicle, you can operate the glass roof and the sun guard with the same switch in the headliner. To open the sun guard:
Push and hold the switch backward up to the resistance point:
The sun guard opens continuously for as long as you still press the switch. When you briefly push the switch backward beyond the resistance point, the sun guard fully opens automatically. Pressing the switch up stops the movement.
The same movements of the switch only operate the glass roof when the sun guard is fully open.
Push and hold the switch backwards up to the resistance point to open the glass roof. When you briefly push the switch backwards beyond the resistance point, the glass roof opens automatically. Pressing the switch up stops the movement.
For some models, the glass roof is automatically opened to a specified comfort position, in which the wind noises in the interior are the lowest. Press the switch again to fully open the glass roof. Push the switch twice in rapid succession beyond the resistance point in the desired direction to open or close the glass roof and the sun guard together. Pressing the switch up stops the movement.
Besides stopping the movement, pressing the switch up raises the glass roof and slightly opens the sun guard. Press the same switch up again to close the raised glass roof. Pressing the same switch up when the glass roof is opened closes it to the raised position without movement of the sun guard. By double-pressing the same switch, the sun guard moves with it.

How to operate the windscreen wipers of your BMW
With the windscreen wipers of your BMW, you make sure you always have a clear view. You can operate the wipers and washers for the windscreen and rear screen via the lever on the right side of the steering wheel.
Press the AUTO button on the wiper lever to activate the rain sensor. A green LED indicates an activated rain sensor.
Use the knurled wheel on the wiper lever to set the sensitivity of the rain sensor. Turn upwards for high sensitivity or downwards for low sensitivity.
To switch normal wiping on, press the lever upwards once. Pressing the lever upwards again activates fast wiping. If the system is off, you can activate fast wiping directly by pressing the lever beyond the resistance point.
To switch from fast mode to normal mode, press downwards once – to switch normally wiping off, press downwards once again. If the wipers aren’t active, you can flick-wipe the windscreen by pressing the lever downwards once. You can clean your windscreen by pulling the lever. The wipers will be operated briefly.
If your BMW is equipped with a rear wiper, turn the outer switch upwards in order to activate the intermittent mode.
Engaging reverse gear activates continuous operation. In intermittent operation, turn and hold the outer switch further upwards to clean the rear window. The wiper will be operated briefly, and the switch returns to the intermittent position when released. When in the rest position, turn the switch downwards to clean the rear window. The wiper will be operated briefly, and the switch returns to the rest position when released.
