Introduction

The available Digital Key feature on your Genesis allows you to use your compatible mobile device as a vehicle key, as well as share virtual keys with other people with compatible mobile devices. The Digital Key feature uses an app to communicate with your vehicle via Bluetooth as well as near-field communication, or NFC. Currently, only certain Android devices have compatible NFC settings. Install the Genesis Digital Key app onto your device from the Google Play Store. Once it is installed, be sure to go through the tutorial for the Digital Key app, as it will help with using the system. Once the app is installed on your phone and you have set up your Genesis account, you can then pair the Digital Key to your vehicle.

Preparing to pair the Digital Key

First, turn on your Genesis, and ensure that the proximity key remains in the vehicle during the pairing process. Then, open the Digital Key app. Select the vehicle to save on the app and activate the Save Mode.

Pairing the Digital Key

Next, place the smartphone face up on the wireless charging pad. Select Setup, then Vehicle, then Digital Key, then Smartphone Key. Select Save. Be certain not to remove the phone from the charging pad, turn the vehicle off, or change the touch screen before the saving process is complete. This can cause the process to cancel. See the owner’s manual for a complete list of cases in which the registration process may be canceled.

Once the save process is complete, a message will be shown on the instrument screen. Remove the smartphone from the charging pad and complete the saving process on the phone.
