Rear Seat

The rear seats of the MINI Countryman come standard with a 40/20/40 split to provide more configurations for the transport of passengers and cargo. These seats can slide and fold independently to slide a rear seat pull this lever up and slide the seat in the desired direction.

Once you’re satisfied release the lever and then move the seat forward or backward slightly. To ensure it’s properly engaged to adjust the rear seat backrest simply pull this strap forward until the backrest releases. You can then move the backrest through a few tilt stages if you pull the strap again you can then fold the backrest completely forward.

To improve cargo capacity even more to restore the rear seat backrests simply fold them back. They will first engage in the upright loading position to continue reclining them and pull the strap. And then fold until you reach the desired position making sure to securely latch the backrest once you’re done.

Rear Seat Belt

The seatbelt buckle on the rear middle seat of the countryman has a unique design requiring a little instruction. When you’re sitting in the seat, the seat belt itself is actually housed over your left shoulder. Behind the rear driver’s headrest reach up and grab the belt to pull it down.

You will notice that there are two buckles and they correspond to two holsters on each side of your secure. Insert the topmost buckle into the holster on your right side then pull the second buckle across your lap. And secure it into the holster on your left side now. You’re buckled in to release the buckle requires a trick as well you can undo the buckle on the right side like any other seat belt by pressing the red button.

This will allow you to physically get out of the seat in order to release the buck on the left side. You need to use the buckle you just released to take the metal part of the buckle. And insert it into this groove in order to press this red button. This will release the left buckle and you can now retract the belt back into the ribs.

Picnic Bench

One of the new features of the MINI Countryman is the optional MINI picnic bench. This is a seat cushion that can be folded down on the loading edge of the boot providing a comfortable seat perfect for a picnic. Wherever you can park the countryman the cushion is stored on the underside of the cargo load floor.

To mount it just lift the cargo load floor upward to move the Picnic Bench into place. Pull it back and up against the force of its magnet. You can then fold the cargo load floor back down and place the cushion over the loading lip of the cargo area. So the picnic bench just lifts the cargo load floor upwards the picnic bench will swing against the underside of the panel. And fastened in place with its magnets.

Finally, lower the cargo load floor back down and you’re ready to motor again. Also, note you can remove the picnic bench completely by releasing it from the four snaps here.
